Hello all you neophytes to New Eden.
I am here to remind you that some of you still DO NOT GET IT.
When the ashes of your empire falls around you because you had to resort to using cheap gear again, because you ran of tanks to bring to the front lines, because your last war barge got blown up to orbit, because you ran out of materials to construct new bases, or because you ran out of fuel that powered a shield generator that provided your planet some immunity from attacks, or because you placed yourself in a position that the next loss means the end of your little empire. You're going to then and probably only then realize that your skill point accrual rates, amounts, total amounts, proper distribution of; Is entirely utterly useless verses some of the mightiest economic war machines you're going to be facing in the near future.
Isk talks, if your corporate wallet isn't a swelling 10 billion or more isk pure dust side, you're behind the power curve rather significantly. Hybrid corps should know how much they need to be at for flood gate day.
Fate favors the prepared, When an entire suite of infantry gear plans costs well over 40 billion to purchase, then the infrastructure to research, upgrade, and manufacture weapons and gear from them are much more. You are so going to wished you had all the isk you needed the day the items where available, you may wind up with no choice but to buy the very weapons you need to do your job, from the very enemy you are fighting because they beat you to the punch.
This npc market hand holding wont last forever. Soon every bit of gear you buy will be player made and if you're one of those slack offs that thought that 1 million was enough 20 million 400 million 1 billion was enough no matter the number you think it is, its wrong because someone else has that mind set already.
No amount of SP is going to save you at that point, but with enough isk spent in the proper places, and you can amazing make some enemies simply disappear.
Want a real challenge? Learn how to be isk efficient as a corp, reduce losses, increase profits, don't trash your assets because you cant use them or never plan to. Build your wealth, plan its spending, start finding jobs for people in your corp, recruiters, counter intel, finance, tacticians, analytics, intel. Buy your corporations loyalty or increase your own clout. Either way a year two or three from now, SP amounts are not going to matter to you. The outcome of tomorrow's battle will weigh far heavier, after all its the last foot hold you have in that region, it be an awful shame is a second enemy shows up to start hammering away at your home systems and you don't have the isk to hire extra guns to defend everywhere. Skill points wont save you there.
To all you nay sayers about you cannot buy trust, you cannot buy loyalty, you cannot buy respect, you cannot buy friendship. You are right but Ill tell you what is buyable.
Erosion of Trust is defiantly up for sale, purchase of an expert propaganda machine, or a spy is just enough to shatter that trust. It chews on the moral, people long time friends start accusing each other, and the spy is the guy in charge of your counter intelligence and recruiting.
You will quickly find out loyalty is only earned as long as the goal seems feasible the moment you lose sight of that goal when whever the obstacles in the way are too daunting or they shifted focus else where, prepare for abandoning of the ship.
Destruction of respect wholesale can be bought as well. After all what sort of respect do you think you are going to earn as the top dog? nothing but hatred and spite and eventually all one could do is do it better and bigger and overshadowing the former. Buy training, new recruits, spend the cost of gear and research. They will eventually get better and with more number more capable.
Friends as we seen in eve online have been made and broken on a daily basis, even those known in real life wind up corp theifing. Also word of warning if a husband and wife are the 'ceos' of a corp or in the same corp, stay out of that one. divorces are pretty nasty. |

At the rate we blow though isk, they're going to start demanding a return on their investments. |

The only things that cannot be bought and sold
They are priceless
Isk comes and goes
Trust can be eroded though constant string of defeats, loss of faith, lack of results, answerless reasons.
Respect is lost the moment they stop believing you have any chance, a good back-stab is usually enough.
While trust cannot be bought, the erosion of trust can.
While respect cannot be bought, the loss of it can.
Things you cannot buy in New Eden, is Drive, Purpose, and Motive.
1. Have a plan to kill everyone you meet.
2. If you can't afford to lose it, don't use it.
3. If you can't defend it, you don't deserve it. |

What advantage would that yield you? a full clip of a militia ar is still going to bring your suit down after you spend all of that.
Like tank is not less immune to the dreaded orbital strike.
It doesn't buy your corporation immunity from spies, sabatures, and undermining.
It certainly won't make isk income easier if anything it make it much harder. |

To add to that, an additional 5 million or 50 million or 500 million sp is not going to change that outcome by much still.
A quater of a clip more on heavy suits maybe.
You may escape an Orbital strikes but still just as unlikely
A corp theif robbed your corps entire armory and wallet still
and you insist on still using all prototype gear. |

I can still effectively kill your character with a freshly rolled alt.
I cannot effectively kick your corp out of faction warfare standings without the isk. |
